Sycamore Spanish teacher Brandon Fitzsimmons was recognized as both the AATSP (American Assoc. for Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese) and IFLTA (Indiana Foreign Language Teachers Association) 2022 Rising Star.
The award is given to a foreign language teacher with less than 8 years of teaching experience "for outstanding achievement in the teaching of World Languages in the State of Indiana" and "honored for dedication to teaching, leadership in the profession, and service to the community." The award was presented during the closing luncheon November 5 at the IFLTA conference in Indianapolis.
Brandon was also elected to be the incoming 2nd Vice President of IFLTA - a year-long commitment that will include three additional year-long terms as 1st Vice President, President, and President Emeritus, respectively.
