SECOND GRADE LEAD TEACHER

Position type:  Full time, exempt
Hours:  Monday-Friday, 7:45 a.m. - 3:45 p.m.
Reports to:  Head of Lower School

Position Summary:
This is a full-time teaching position in one of our two second grade classrooms for the 2024-2025 school year.  In your role as lead math and science teacher, you will be expected to work with your fellow colleagues to create an engaging and collaborative environment, embracing differentiation as well as age appropriate curriculum for our gifted learners.

Qualifications & Requirements:
    •    Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education
    •    Gifted and Talented Endorsement or High Ability Licensure is highly preferred
    •    Demonstrated lead teaching experience in a team teaching environment
    •    Understanding of and ability to differentiate curriculum
    •    Proven experience with academically gifted students
    •    Ability to write and develop differentiated curriculum appropriate for gifted learners
    •    Experience and knowledge of math curriculum up to a fifth grade level, and a passion for teaching math concepts and practices, and problem solving skills
    •    Experience with the NGSS standards for science and the integration of the concepts and practices within multiple disciplines
    •    Experience working in a team teaching environment
    •    Ability to create a positive classroom environment for all students
    •    Capability to develop and maintain appropriate working relationships with parents and colleagues
