FIRST GRADE LEAD TEACHER

Position type:  Full time, exempt, 10 months
Hours:  Monday-Friday, 7:45 a.m. - 3:45 p.m.
Reports to:  Head of Lower School

Position Summary:
This is a full-time teaching position in one of our two first grade classrooms for the 2024-2025 academic year.  The two classrooms team teach, and this position would teach all of the language arts curriculum to all students in the grade level.  In your role as lead teacher, you will be expected to work with your fellow colleagues to create an engaging and collaborative environment, embracing differentiation as well as age appropriate curriculum for our gifted learners.

Qualifications & Requirements:
    •    Bachelor’s degree in Elementary education
    •    Gifted and Talented Endorsement or High Ability Licensure is highly preferred
    •    Demonstrated lead teaching experience in a team teaching environment
    •    Understanding of and ability to differentiate curriculum
    •    Proven experience with academically gifted students
    •    Ability to write and develop differentiated curriculum appropriate for gifted learners
    •    Experience and knowledge of literature and language arts curriculum for elementary students, and a passion for teaching literature and writing
    •    Experience working in a team teaching environment
    •    Ability to create a positive classroom environment for all students
    •    Capability to develop and maintain appropriate working relationships with parents and colleagues
