New Sycamore Head of School John Huber Begins Tenure

John Huber

With a wealth of private school experience, including Head of School at Emerson School, (a gifted and academically talented Preschool - 8th Grade school) in Ann Arbor, Michigan for six years, and, before that, for nine years at Barnesville School of Arts & Sciences in Barnesville, Maryland, John Huber has begun his tenure as Head of School at Sycamore School, following Diane Borgmann’s retirement. John’s first day in the office was July 5.

“It's a great joy to be here on campus and engaged in the work of preparing for the new school year,” Huber says.  “My fellow colleagues have been incredible, and it's clear that they have been working diligently this summer to welcome back Sycamore's many students this August.  Since my arrival, I've been getting my office organized, and just have a few more boxes to unpack.  If you come by to visit, please excuse the clutter!  Just know how happy I am to be here and connecting with families, faculty, and the Sycamore community at large.”

A graduate of Cornell University with a Masters degree from Villanova University, Huber was a Latin teacher at Wyndcroft School in Pottstown, Pennsylvania until 2006, before becoming Academic Dean and then Assistant Head of School.

“From the very moment I first stepped onto Sycamore's campus in September 2018 as ISACS Accreditation Visiting Team Co-Chair, I was immediately impressed by the many strengths of the school,” Huber wrote in an email to parents when it was announced he would be the next Head of School at Sycamore. “‘This,’ I thought to myself, ‘is a school that knows what it's about.’ It wasn't just the breadth and depth of the curriculum, but also the student-centered way the teachers help each child reach their potential.”
