On Friday, March 18 - 22 Sycamore 8th Graders took Level 2 of the National Spanish Exam (equivalent of Year 2 of HS Spanish). On Thursday, March 17, 24 Sycamore 6th Graders took Level 01 of the National Spanish Exam (a blend of Middle School and Year 1 HS Spanish). On March 15, 30 Sycamore 7th Graders took Level 1 of the National Spanish Exam (equivalent of Year 1 HS Spanish).
The raw scores will be followed in May by student national percentile placements.
A few impressive "raw scores" of note include:
8th Grade
Riti Tandra, Justin Puno, Alex Cheng, Evelyn Cunningham, and Audrey Alberts scored 200/200 (100%) on the Proficiency (Reading/Listening) section of the NSE.
The following five (5) students all scored 90%+ on their Level 2 NSE raw scores (360+/400):

Audrey Alberts, Evelyn Cunningham, Liam Hendry, Alex Cheng, and Riti Tandra all scored 90%+ on their Level 2 NSE raw scores (360+/400). Alberts set a new record 8th grade - NSE Level 2 raw score at 392/400. She - along with Evelyn Cunningham, Liam Hendry, Riti Tandra, Alex Cheng, Kaia Starnino, and Oscar Hyatt - claimed seven (7) of the top-ten NSE Level 2 raw scores ever achieved by Sycamore 8th graders.
7th Grade
Matilda Kelly, Izzy Goloschokin, Annalisa Schuth, and Sophie Seifert all scored 200/200 (100%) on the Proficiency (Reading/Listening) section of the NSE.
The following nine (9) students all scored 90%+ on their Level 1 NSE raw scores (360+/400):

Sophie Seifert set a new record 7th grade - NSE Level 1 raw score at 388/400. She - along with Isaac Rabuck, Sameer Zaidi, Ava Deng, Annalisa Schutch, Sonali Guttikonda, and Ginny Neumeister - claimed seven (7) of the top-ten NSE Level 1 raw scores ever achieved by Sycamore 7th graders.
6th Grade
Alex Cunningham, Cole Welton, and Henry Martinson all scored 200/200 (100%) on the Proficiency (Reading/Listening) section of the NSE.

Together with Audrey Alberts (see above), Alex Cunningham set a new Sycamore all-level record raw score at 392/400. He - along with his eight aforementioned classmates, Nick Molter, and Chloe Sigua - earned the top ten NSE Level 01 raw scores achieved by Sycamore 6th graders. This was the first year the NSE Level 01 was offered to Sycamore 6th graders.
"All 76 students have worked, studied, and prepared hard," says Sycamore Spanish teacher Brandon Fitzsimmons. "They worked for more than six months to compete against students mostly 2-4 years their senior."
