Physical Education

EARLY CHILDHOOD

The Physical Education program for young children emphasizes movement, gross motor development, and cooperative games. Children begin to learn the nature of rules and strategy and develop an appreciation for sports citizenship. Activities include throwing and catching, basic tumbling, agility skills, obstacle courses, and perceptual motor games.

LOWER SCHOOL

The Physical Education program is designed to introduce students to a wide range of individual and group skills that improve different motor abilities. Students learn to work together to achieve a common goal. The Physical Education program promotes healthy lifestyles in young people, taking into account the physical, social, and intellectual development of each child. Sports skills and citizenship, cooperative games, and perceptual motor rhythm games form the core of the program.

MIDDLE SCHOOL

Overall fitness, movement, and health are the focuses of the Physical Education classes in the Middle School.
