Sycamore camps have been a tradition since Sycamore School’s founding in 1985.

We are thrilled to provide a variety of exciting and enriching programs for your children. Sycamore camps help children discover new friends, confidence and creativity. We hope your child can join us for our Summer Camp Season 2019.

In 2019, more than 35 different summer camps are being offered for kids, from Pre-Kindergarten through 8th Grade  Sycamore is excited that your child is attending camp at the school for gifted students in central Indiana.  All camps are open to all children whether or not they attend Sycamore during the school year. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.  Enrollment will be limited.  Full payment of fees is required at time of registration.

EXTENDED DAY

Children provide their own sack lunch.  They will be supervised during an outdoor recess, lunch, and games.  The lunchtime fee is for campers registered for only morning camp or afternoon camp.  If a camper is at a full day camp, or both a morning and an afternoon camp, there is no lunchtime cost.
GENERAL INFORMATION
 
Sycamore School Quest Summer Camps have been a tradition since the school’s founding in 1985.  Sycamore School is excited that your child is attending camp at the school for gifted students in central Indiana.  All camps are open to children who attend other schools during the school year.  The Sycamore Quest Camp brochure/website lists and describes the camps offered by entering grade levels or ages.
 
Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.  Enrollment will be limited.  Full payment of fees is required to hold a place.  The registration and payment deadline for camps held in June is May 10.  If there are enough registrations to hold the camp, and spaces are remaining, you can register for camp until two weeks prior to the first day of the camp. The registration and payment deadline for camps held in July is June 7.  Again, if enough spaces remain and the camp is being held, registrations will be received until two weeks prior to the first day the camp.
 
Extended Care is provided from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. for an additional charge.  Lunch care is provided free of charge for those campers that attend a full-day camp or a combination of a morning camp and afternoon camp.  Campers will need to bring a sack lunch and drink.  Snacks will be provided for all camps.
 
There is a $25.00 non-refundable registration fee.  Full refunds (minus the registration fee) can be made for a cancellation prior to May 10 (for June camps) or June 7 (for July camps).  A 50% refund can be made for cancellation after the May or June deadlines through the Monday prior to the week of your child’s camp.
 
Sycamore School Summer Quest reserves the right to cancel a program if there is insufficient enrollment; a full refund will be made. If you have any questions, please call Dusty Burwell at 317-202-2541. Confirmation letters will be emailed to you after the registration has been received.

Interested in finding out if coding is for you?  This camp will bring technology skills to life for younger campers. Campers will build simple computer games and puzzles in a safe and high-energy environment. This camp will develop a foundational understanding of computer science utilizing Scratch technology. Fun additional components including electronic invention, internet safety tips, and interactive activities to learn coding theory. Collaboration skills and confidence building exercises will be integrated into this camp.

LITTLE MUSKETEERS SUMMER FENCING CAMP                    Entering Grades 2 - 8

IndySabre makes the Art and Sport of fencing fun and accessible through different fencing games and learning fencing basics.  No experience necessary!  Students will receive instruction in footwork and technique, take part in fencing drills and games, learn about the history of fencing and even compete in an in-class fencing tournament!  All beginners fencing equipment is provided.  Students wear comfortable pants or shorts (no jeans or slacks, please!) and tennis/running shoes.  A waiver must be filled out and signed for each student.

Do you love Star Wars™ and outer space?  Then grab your light saber and join us on a journey to a galaxy far away.  This week will be packed full of models to make your imagination blast off!  Inspired by your favorite scenes from Star Wars, we’ll learn the real science behind the fiction while developing our master-builder and master Jedi skills.  Children will build motorized Star Wars vehicles such as the X-wing Fighter and Tie Fighter, as well as their favorite characters such as Yoda, R2D2, BB8, Jedi, and more.  Guided by the NASA space program, we’ll also explore life in outer space by learning about astronauts and building the International Space Station and other space vehicles.

In this camp you engineer will explore the world of coding with the new Sphero BOLT!  Your engineer can do amazing things with this rolling robot!  They can give the little sphere some personality by coding the 8x8 LED matrix to display designs, countdown, and even faces!!  Using the built in gyroscopes, accelerometers, and much more the coding possibilities are endless!!  Engineers will play games, explore underwater, find Pokémon, and so much more!!

Using the Ozobot Bit, your littlest engineers will be introduced to the world of coding.  The Bit allows for hands on unplugged coding by using an optical sensor to detect color changes in the Bit’s path!  With these tiny robots your engineers will develop a concrete understanding of how coding works.  They will code their names, play games, and so much more!!

Calling all future writers, artists designers, and game developers!!  Engineers in this collaborative camp will enjoy storyboarding a game, they build, with character, enemy, and plot development.  Using Bloxels, they will turn their interactive stories and physical creations into a digital video game.  They will use the Bloxels gameboard and blocks to create the characters, levels, and other art for their games.  They capture all of their creations using the Bloxels App, where they customize everything--what it looks like and how elements interact and behave, which turns it all into a fun playable game on the tablet.

Come join Bricks 4 Kidz at our LEGO zoo! Our preschool camp is designed to create a time of fun and learning for the preschool child using both DUPLO Bricks and Classic LEGO Bricks to create simple, yet exciting, structures.  The curriculum introduces developmentally appropriate concepts such as counting and patterning, recognizing colors and shapes, ordering, positional words, fine motor skills, and much more.  Each day, your little one will learn about and build animals that they’ve seen at the zoo: zebra, an ostrich, a kangaroo, a giraffe, an elephant, and a camel, and more!  They’ll learn about animal habitats, what the animals eat, any noises they may make, and sing lots of animal songs. This LEGO robotics class gives engineers control over the robot, in the palm of their hand!  They will, as a team, code a wireless controller to drive their robots against an opponent in challenge-based arenas.  Engineers will build a kicker to compete in a Motorball tourney, program a color sensor to detect and capture colored bricks in the Block Buster challenge, and much more!  All this leads up to the Danger Zone, a true, face-to-face battle that will test what they have learned during camp!  Each day the teams are paid, in Riot coins, for participation in the arenas.  These funds are used the next day to upgrade their robots for the next day’s arena!  Welcome to Robo RIOT!!

You are the next hero to save the world!  But first you need some gear!  What better way to get the best gear than to design and print it yourself!!  In 3D Design and Printing students will work in Tinkerad to create 3D designs to be printed using 3D printers.  Your engineer will design their own Keychain with their Superhero name & it will be delivered to camp on Friday!!  Students will explore 3D pens and their uses in 3D design, using them to make some essential gear for their secret identity!!

Are you ready to start 5th grade?  Are you worried about keeping track of your assignments and staying organized while switching classrooms all day?  Maybe you are just a little worried about finding your classrooms.  This camp is all about getting ready for a smooth transition to middle school.  Designed for students entering 5th grade at Sycamore.
During this camp you will:
  1.  Practice your keyboarding skills
  2.  Improve organization and time-management skills
  3. Learn about executive skills and how they impact performance
  4. Find out how to use self-management and improve your success
Don’t worry, it won’t be all work and no play.  We have time for games, competitions, and decorating your locker!
 
RAINFOREST RHYTHM KINGDOM SUMMER CAMP          Entering Grades PreK - K

Rainforest Rhythm Kingdom ™ Summer Camp is a creative camp experience where kids learn about groove through rhythm activities using drums, percussion, movement props and jungle jams.  Each camper will make 3 instruments during the camp.  These is a fun family jam the last 30 minutes of camp where everyone can come and groove!
 
LITTLE MUSKETEERS SUMMER FENCING CAMP                    Entering Grades 2 - 8
Instructor: IndySabre Fencing Club            July 29 - August 2             8:30 - 11:30               $220
IndySabre makes the Art and Sport of fencing fun and accessible through different fencing games and learning fencing basics.  No experience necessary!  Students will receive instruction in footwork and technique, take part in fencing drills and games, learn about the history of fencing and even compete in an in-class fencing tournament!  All beginners fencing equipment is provided.  Students wear comfortable pants or shorts (no jeans or slacks, please!) and tennis/running shoes.  A waiver must be filled out and signed for each student.
