    Megan France Named Symphony in Color Finalist; Three Honored for Art

    Megan France, a Sycamore School 6th grader, has been chosen as a Finalist at this year's Symphony in Color Competition. Congratulations also to Nate Liang, grade 5, and Sophie Liang, grade 4, who each received an Honorable Mention. 

    All three works will be exhibited at the State Museum from April 2 to May 4. It is estimated that over 11,000 students across the state participated in the art contest, which is sponsored by the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra Association.

  • Sycamore VEX Teams Compete at State Qualifier; Advance to Finals March 10

    After a two-month layoff from competition, Sycamore's three VEX IQ teams competed at the 29-team Crawfordsville State Qualifying tournament on Saturday.

  • Band Students Compete, Earn Trip to State at ISSMA DIstrict Contest

    Congratulations to all 107 students who performed at the ISSMA District Solo and Ensemble contest at Ben Davis 9th Grade Center on January 27.  The Group I state entries are students that are competing at the high school level, playing high school level music! Students who earned a gold rating in Group I are eligible for the State Solo and Ensemble Contest that will be held on February 24 at North Central High School. See the entire list in full story.

    Sycamore Math Team competes in Math League, AMC 8; Travels to Exeter

    The Sycamore math team has competed in 4 rounds of the High School Math League.  Of the 75 schools in Indiana competing in the contest, Sycamore is the only middle school.  After Round 4, Sycamore is in 7th place in the state, ahead of local schools such as Zionsville HS, Westfield HS, North Central HS, HSE, University High School, and Cathedral.  Sycamore’s math team is competing this weekend at Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire in the annual EMCC math competition.  The EMCC includes many of the top math teams from the New England area, but also includes teams like Sycamore that travel from across the country, and usually multiple international teams that travel from as far away as China.

  • Five Sycamore Students Earn Scholastic Arts and Writing Awards

    The Scholastic ​Arts and Writing awards have been announced and Sycamore had five students win awards! 
    In 2017, students submitted more than 330,000 works of writing and art. Local winners will be celebrated at Butler University in the spring, and Gold Key winners go on to compete in the national contest.
