Lower School

The expectation for Lower School students will vary from grade to grade. The primary tools of communication will be through the Portal and Gmail. Since 4th Grade students have Gmail, they may also be contacted directly by the teacher, so it is important that they are checking Gmail and the Portal daily. 

Teachers will post lessons every day by 9:00 a.m. Parents should go over these lessons with their children to make sure they understand. Some work can be submitted digitally, while others may require a parent to take a picture of the project or their child’s work and email it to the teacher. Teachers may utilize screencasting and other screen recording techniques to demonstrate certain learning. YouTube videos (even YouTube Live) can be leveraged as well.

Daily work in the following areas is expected:

1st - 4th Grade

  • Language Arts
    • Assigned reading, independent reading, spelling, vocabulary, grammar, writing
  • Mathematics 
    • Math in Focus, problem solving, enrichment
  • Science
    • Assigned unit work with supporting resources
  • Social Studies 
    • Assigned reading, unit work with supporting resources
