Sycamore School deeply appreciates and depends on financial donations to provide the wide margin of excellence that distinguishes its programs from other institutions.

Throughout our relatively brief 22 year history, Sycamore School has been the fortunate beneficiary of generous support. Conceived around a founding family's kitchen table, a group of committed parents and educators launched a unique educational response to meet the needs of gifted young learners in the greater Indianapolis community.

Before the first dollar of tuition was collected, used furniture and instructional materials were donated by faculty and prospective parents. Leased space in the Unitarian Universalist Church of Indianapolis near Butler University served as our first home. The fall of 1985 brought 100 students in Kindergarten through grade Five to Sycamore School classrooms.

By 1989, resources and interest in the school had grown substantially, allowing Sycamore to lease the retired Grandview Elementary School building, providing needed room for the growth of school classes and programmatic offerings. The school building was ultimately purchased in 1996 using available cash reserves gifted to the school.

This founding philanthropic spirit continues yet today. Since the purchase of the campus, two successful building campaigns have increased the size and scope of the campus facilities. Representatives from the entire Sycamore community have supported these campaigns, allowing the school to add a new Early Childhood wing and to remodel the Middle School in 2000. Most recently, financial gifts raised through the Minds and Bodies capital campaign added a new library, gymnasium, theater, cafeteria expansion and Lower School remodel in 2005.

Annual Giving campaigns, generously supported by Sycamore families, past parents, alumni and friends, enhance our school's programming and new learning initiatives every year.

As an independent school, Sycamore is dependent on the good will and generosity of the members of our school community. Thanks to the dedicated commitment of founding, former, and current families and friends, Sycamore School is a thriving academic community. Through continued financial support, donors enable us to maintain and enhance an educational experience expertly designed to enrich our students for a lifetime.

Sincerely,
