Spanish

Early Childhood

The early childhood Spanish program introduces children to the enjoyment of another language. Through a variety of games, activities, and songs they begin to build a vocabulary base.

Lower School

The goals of the lower school program are to promote the expansion of the students' Spanish vocabulary, to provide an environment in which the students feel safe to explore another language, to promote the love of language and the appreciation of other cultures, to improve the students' listening and reading comprehension in Spanish, along with their writing and speaking skills.

Middle School

At middle school, all students will complete the materials normally covered in a first year high school class and many will complete a second year of high school Spanish. A modified TPRS (teaching proficiency through reading and storytelling) approach is used to enhance the appreciation of another culture and the study of foreign language.
