Drama and Music

Drama

Drama club at Sycamore involves students in grades five through eight who wish to learn more about acting, set design, costuming and makeup, or the technical aspects of theater. Students learn how to create a character, stage movement, set design, etc. In the first half of the year prior to winter break, students perform a selection that may range from a Shakespearean tale to a fairy tale. During the second part of the year, students apply what they've learned in a larger scale production which might be a musical.

Music

Music education is part of the curriculum at all grade levels. In addition, Sycamore offers a variety of opportunities for musical participation including Concert Band (grade five), Symphonic Band (grades six through eight), Jazz Band (grades six through eight), and grade-level choirs (grades one/two and five through eight). Sycamore also hosts an Indianapolis Children's Choir for grades 3 and 4. Private music lessons which are on a fee basis are available after school. Uniform costs and instrument rental or purchase may apply.
