The Sycamore School Association (SSA) supports the philosophy,
programs, and activities of
Sycamore
School. In collaboration
with the Development Office, the SSA contributes to the
fundraising initiatives of the school. By channeling our efforts,
we will have a greater impact on the overall educational
enrichment provided at Sycamore School.
Traditionally, the SSA organizes and hosts an Auction for
Advancement to raise additional funds to support school
enhancements. This themed social gathering includes not only
cocktails and dinner but an opportunity to participate in a silent
auction showcasing staff member talent donations and student-created
classroom masterpieces. The live auction is filled with high energy
and positive spirit as parents try to seize the numerous
one-of-a-kind opportunities ranging from front row theater seats,
VIP parking spaces, and trips within the mainland and beyond. Thanks
to the generosity of donors, Sycamore students have been able to
benefit from a variety of "Fund-An-Item" projects. These restricted
cash gifts have enhanced specific campus projects by furnishing new
playground equipment, new school computers, theater light and sound
equipment, and an outdoor nature lab. The next Auction for
Advancement will be held in late winter of 2011 in celebration of
Sycamore's twenty-fifth anniversary of educating gifted children.
For the 2009-2010 school year, Sycamore will host a new
fundraising event, a jog-a-thon, allowing for greater family and
community involvement. With implementing a long-range plan, the SSA
will alternate fundraising events allowing for diversification of
sponsorship opportunities, revenue sources, volunteer commitments,
and family involvement. With the completion of our new track
facility, Sycamore will be able to celebrate both community spirit
and financial support while walking "miles for minds." A pledge
drive will precede the event in early spring 2010, with the finale
taking place on Friday, May 14. The all-day event will allow for
grade-level students, along with both staff and family members, to
walk or jog for a designated time in order to demonstrate and
celebrate our true Sycamore spirit.
A portion of the general auction or jog-a-thon proceeds supports
the school's financial aid budget with the balance added to the
Annual Giving Campaign's revenues for additional school
enhancements.
