Why is Sycamore School where gifted kids thrive?

Our mission is unique, different from any other private or public school in Indianapolis or Indiana: Sycamore School exists so that academically gifted children can experience the enriched, accelerated education they need to reach their potential and to lead responsible, constructive, fulfilling lives. Sycamore is one of the few schools in the nation where all classes, subjects, and activities are designed for gifted kids.

Sycamore teachers are trained and experienced in gifted education. Many have Master's degrees and most have gifted and talented endorsements. Their understanding of the special academic, social, and emotional needs of gifted students helps them provide the supportive environment gifted kids need to thrive. Our faculty members are national leaders in the field of gifted education.

Our educators have developed the Sycamore curriculum, and it has attracted national and international attention. Sycamore is prominent in the minds of educators who teach and design curricula for gifted children.

Instruction is differentiated, and students are able to work at their own ability level, no matter how high.

Classes are not only accelerated but also enriched with hands-on projects, special speakers, and extraordinary field trips. Instruction in art, music, Spanish, physical education, and computers is provided from Early Childhood through Middle School.

Gifted kids find the peer group they need at Sycamore to learn and achieve to their potential. Gifted children need to be with others who think and learn like they do.
Parents of gifted kids find a peer group, too, along with education and support to help them parent their gifted children.

Students' achievement test scores prove that they are achieving at very superior levels. At every grade level in every skill area tested our students significantly outscore students from other independent schools.

Our graduates are extraordinarily well prepared for private and public high schools. Many have earned the highest possible distinctions in both high school and college.

Sycamore is a fun, happy place where children are eager to come to school each day. At Sycamore, students find variety, creativity, and challenge in their education.
