Administration

Head of School

As Sycamore's Head of School, Diane Borgmann returned to a community she had been an integral part of for eleven years. Diane was the first Head of Lower School at Sycamore School, beginning in July of 1994. She continued in that role until June of 2005, adding the additional responsibilities of Associate Head of School in 2001. Prior to her appointment as Sycamores Head of School, Diane was the Lower School Director at Greensboro Day School in Greensboro (NC). She has been actively involved in the teaching or administration of gifted students since 1980. Diane earned a bachelors degree in elementary education from DePauw University in 1975, her masters in elementary education from Butler University in 1978, and her gifted and talented endorsement from Purdue University in 1988. Diane is married and the mother of three children all of whom graduated from Sycamore.


Head of Middle School

 

Jamie MacDougall is the Head of the Middle School at Sycamore. She comes here from Marshall School in Duluth, Minn, where she taught and coached. Jamie received her bachelor's degree in English & Secondary Education from the University of Minnesota-Morris. Currently, she is completing her PhD in Educational Psychology: Gifted Education at Purdue University, where she also received her gifted and talented endorsement. Jamie is the Middle Grades Newsletter Editor for the National Association for Gifted Children and is a board member for the Indiana Association for the Gifted


Head of Lower School

Glenna Lykens is the Head of the Lower School at Sycamore. She came to Sycamore as a 4th grade assistant in 1999 and was a lead teacher in 1st grade at Sycamore from 2001 to 2005. She also taught in elementary schools in Ohio and North Carolina. Glenna received her bachelor's degree in education from The Ohio State University in 1978, her endorsement in gifted and talented education from Ball State University in 2004, and her master's degree in educational psychology from Ball State in 2006. She is a member of the National Association for Gifted Children and the Indiana Association for the Gifted. Glenna is married and has two grown daughters.


Head of Early Childhood

Francine Clayton is the Head of Early Childhood at Sycamore. She has a masters degree in elementary education from the University of Michigan and taught kindergarten and first grade prior to coming to Sycamore in 1997. In addition to her twelve years of teaching pre-kindergarten at Sycamore, Francine has been an active participant in the early childhood admissions and screening processes for many years. She is married and has two grown daughters.


Director of Admissions/School Counselor

Dr. Susan Karpicke is the Director of Admissions and School Counselor at Sycamore. She received her doctorate in education from Indiana University in 1977. Susan began work counseling and testing at Sycamore in 1988, and became the Director of Admissions in 1993. She is a Nationally Certified Counselor, Career Counselor and School Counselor, and holds memberships in the American Psychological Association, and the National Association for Gifted Children. Dr. Karpicke is married and the mother of two children both of whom graduated from Sycamore.


Director of Development

Holly Lee is the Director of Development at Sycamore School. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Southern Methodist University and her Master of Arts from Dallas Theological Seminary. Holly completed her Certificate in Fundraising Management at The Fundraising School at Indiana University's Center on Philanthropy and is a Certified Fundraising Executive. She was previously a successful Director of Development at The Oaks Academy in Indianapolis. Holly returns to Sycamore community, having had a past affiliation with Sycamore as a parent and trustee.


Director of Technology

Larry Fletcher is the Director of Technology at Sycamore. Mr. Fletcher received his MBA degree from Indiana Wesleyan University in 1992. He has worked at Sycamore School since 1998. Larry is a member of the National Association for Gifted Children, Indiana Computer Educators, Hoosier Educational Computer Coordinators, and the International Society of Technology Educators. He is a Certified Novell Engineer and an adjunct faculty member of Indiana Wesleyan University. Larry is the father of three children.


Chief Financial Officer

Patrick Juday, CPA, is the Chief Financial Officer at Sycamore. Patrick graduated summa cum laude from The Ohio State University in 1993 with a degree in accounting. Prior to arriving at Sycamore, Patrick served over a ten year period as Controller at The Orchard School and Director of Finance and Operations at Traders Point Christian Academy. Continuing education toward maintaining his CPA designation has been focused on non-profit finances. He is a member of the Indiana CPA Society and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Patrick is married and has one child.
